    people really …
people really ought to be embarrassed to have that many kids these days whether they THINK they can afford it or not. we truly are basic animals who’s singular desire is to pass our dna onto the future as much as possible. I am happy enough to let my dna die with me.

Jim, your delivery is awesome. Someone needs to give you your own show on cable.

This video is funny at first, but as you continue through the tour, you’re explanation of the situation left me sad. Sign of the time, unfortunately. Anyhoo, enjoyed this one, too. Beautiful area. The home is HUGE, but a bit awkward.

No, I’m not saying the United States has always been a fascist state.

I’m saying it’s been a fascist state for about 20 years now or so, starting with the Savings and Loan Scandal when the US government protected criminals like Niel Bush from prosecution of that theft.

    Fascism, of course.

    > Who had the power to approve or deny the
    > loan?

    The person selling the loan.

It’s quite simple. You allow the IDIOT that took out the loan to default on it, and the MORON for giving out the loan to lose their capital.

But in a FASCIST system, you STEAL taxpayer money so that the borrower defaults, and the MORON that loaned the money gets their money back anyhow.

    Neither.

    The government does.

Do you know what the economic system of FASCISM is? Go find out. That’s our economic system now.

  19. bubba5000 says:

    Or Pick This: Huge …
Or Pick This: Huge Corporate Banks create demand by endlessly advertising and lending out easy money and then reselling those loans to Wall Street…and then you and I bailout Wall Street.
Ask yourself who had the power in the transaction; the family man or the huge corporate lender?

  20. fuzzywzhe says:

    > you still act as …

I’m acting as though it’s OBVIOUS that housing in parts of California are in Bubble Mania land.

    > on the current job market too many people
    > just can’t get a job or a decent job.

Prices are driven by demand. Reduce demand, and you drive down prices.

Reduce demand by having people unwilling to pay, or by having people UNABLE to pay.

    Take your pick.

  21. CaptainKhrenov says:

A lot of it makes …
A lot of it makes sense, but you still act as if OBVIOUSLY they could have afforded it at $600K in the long run, despite the most brutal recession since the 30s.

maybe yes, I don’t know, but let me tell you something, on the current job market too many people just can’t get a job or a decent job.
You just can’t blame them all for taking risks and living without a crystal ball…

“I can get you a 10 bedroom mansion for that where I grew up”
I bet there aren’t too many opportunities tho

  22. SteveAndIdiAmin says:

    Sounds like someone …
Sounds like someone already gave them some credit–without ascertaining whether they deserved it.

Bad judgment. Two acres? Granite kitchen, etc? Not exactly necessities. First priority should have been putting a roof over the kids’ heads, not over-reaching. It’s a house, not a retirement investment or ATM machine. Buy LESS house than you can afford. Save money every month. Pay down the mortgage.

I was given this very advice in 1998, and I followed it. Thank GOD!

    It is here.

    > The truth is usually far more nuanced.

The truth is that these people were greedy and stupid, and will pass along their ideals as well as their genes to their 5 destitute children.

  24. CenterLeftLiberal says:

    Yes, you should …
Yes, you should feel sorry for them. People don’t pump out kids – life is more complicated than that, and calling people “dirtbags” is seldom an accurate statement. The truth is usually far more nuanced.

So, I’m supposed to feel sorry for these dirtbags for having kids they can’t afford?

I don’t believe you should be pumping out kids you can’t afford to clothe, feed, and educate. Call me nuts if you will!
