I lived in a house for 3 years paying the rent was not a problem for us, but for the man who we rented from it was. We moved out of the house in the last week of Oct. and only 10 days later we went to get some things from the outside of the house and a representative from the bank was already changing the locks. We were not told when to move out. The only thing we were told was as soon as you can. I would like to find out how much the bank is looking to get for the house now.

Banks don’t sell their foreclosures, called REO’s (real estate owned) they list them with Realtors. Contact a local Realtor that represents buyers. It won’t cost you anything because the seller pays the commission.

Look carefully, and you see thousands of them around in the best of communities, the nicest neighborhoods, the most successful of businesses. Maybe hidden away in cold basements or out of sight. They are still there, longing to be held. Looking for a loving place to make a new home. This year, the NC State Friends of the Library rallied once again. Volunteers did the work, found homes for thousands, and made a lot of new owners very happy.

On Tuesday, April 21st volunteers from the Friends of the Library opened the 20th annual Book Sale. This event was the culmination of hundreds of hours of work by volunteers from the Friends, Library staff and others. This event was made possible by donations from generous people who find this event to be a great way to recycle their books.

By Saturday, when the crowds flocked in for the popular $5 for the all-you-can-put-in-a-bag sale, most of the 20,000 books donated by Friends, faculty, and others had new homes. This year the sale opened to the public on Earth Day and was held in conjunction with the university Sustainability program.

Over $13,000 was raised to support the NCSU Libraries. And 20 new student members signed up for Friends of the Library.

To all of you who helped, a big thanks and a well done. And to all of you who took a homeless book home with you, were sure you now have a friend for life. Next year when the book sale will be rechristened to be the Frank B. Armstrong Memorial Book Sale to honor the work and the passing of one of the Libraries most devoted supporters.
